What GLUTATHIONE is, how it takes care of your body and why we need to get it daily?

17 Jul 2024
Antioxidants are essential for all living things, but GLUTATHIONE is known to be critical for overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, many people today have reduced levels of GLUTATHIONE in their bodies for a number of reasons, including poor diet, chronic stress, environmental factors, and age, to name just a few.

Since it is the most important antioxidant in the body, it is vital that we take appropriate measures to maintain adequate levels of GLUTATHIONE.

"Glutathione is the most important and integral part of your detoxification system. All toxins stick to glutathione, which then carries them into your bile and stool - and out of your body." - Mark Hyman, MD

In this article, you'll find out exactly what GLUTATHION is, what it does to your body, what form it's best to take, and how to make sure your levels never go down.

What is GLUTATHIONE?

The human body is subjected to oxidative stress from various sources all the time. In order to combat this stress and damage, the body uses a variety of antioxidants. Glutathione(GSH) is a very special peptide molecule that provides the greatest antioxidant protection and energizes the other antioxidants in the body.

Glutathione is the body's most powerful detoxifier and antioxidant, produced naturally in the liver and composed of three amino acids: glutamine, glycine and cysteine.

Every cell in the body produces glutathione. Many scientists believe that the level of glutathione in our cells is indicative of how long we will live. This makes sense, given the wealth of important bodily processes in which glutathione plays a crucial role.

Glutathione has been called the "master antioxidant" because of its essential role in keeping exogenous antioxidants such as vitamin C and E in active form. Glutathione is like a guardian of the cell, protecting the genetic equipment from external attacks. It is estimated that each cell in the body withstands 10,000 free radical hits each day. Glutathione disarms these free radicals before they do damage, and cleans up the oxidative stress-related damage that has occurred.

It protects every cell in our body from free radicals and detoxifies the liver by eliminating harmful toxins.

Glutathione deficiency can lead to an increased risk of cell damage and loss of the body's ability to function optimally. As a result, lower energy levels and frequent inflammation are often seen, opening the door for disease and accelerating the aging process. Glutathione deficiency is often referred to as the root cause of all disease.

In fact, changes in glutathione levels and/or oxidation status have already been reported in almost all major human diseases. These include cardiovascular disorders, cancer, Parkinson's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma, neurodegenerative conditions and many others. Glutathione levels are a major focus in the diseases AIDS and autism.

The four main functions of GLUTATHIONE in the body include:

● Detoxification of toxins
● Synthesis and repair of DNA
● Protection from oxidation
● Improving the immune system

Role of GLUTATHIONE in immunity:

Glutathione plays an important role in immune function. Studies have shown that glutathione strengthens T cells, which are critical for proper modulation of the immune system. These are the cells that coordinate the attack against pathogenic bacteria, viruses, parasites, etc., while keeping tissue damage and autoimmune responses in check. An overactive immune system can trigger allergies and autoimmune disease processes. Glutathione fights cellular toxins and works to eliminate carcinogens from the intracellular environment while healing damaged cells. Glutathione is constantly at work protecting the body against disease, toxins, viruses, pollutants, radiation, drugs and oxidative stress. When there is damage, it immediately goes to work repairing the damage from free radicals.

GLUTATHIONE levels protect the brain:

If there is not enough glutathione, toxins will overload the liver and lead to storage of fat-soluble toxins in fatty tissues. The central nervous system, chest and prostate are the most susceptible areas. Many researchers attribute the increase in neurological and immune problems to depleted cellular glutathione. The brain produces more free radicals than any other tissue and therefore needs more glutathione than any other organ.
Glutathione levels begin to decline as we age as most people in our society become more toxic and deficient. In addition, our society has more environmental toxicity than ever before, so there is a significant need for more glutathione production.

Aging decreases GLUTATHIONE production:

By age 20, scientists estimate that the average person loses glutathione at a rate of 8-12% per decade. Increased health problems from infection, poor diet, smoking, increased toxic load, medication use, etc. can deplete these stores at a much faster rate. Scientists estimate that a 30% reduction in glutathione is enough for cellular dysfunction to occur.
When cellular dysfunction occurs over time, it leads to a buildup of aging "zombie" cells. These zombie cells have lost their ability to perform normal functions. Instead, they release a toxic chemical mixture of oxidative and inflammatory compounds into their local environment. This increases inflammation and damages healthy cells, causing poor cell function and chronic symptoms.

Glutathione precursors in the diet:

Studies show that adequate vitamin D is necessary for optimal glutathione production. I recommend increasing glutathione stores for almost everyone. This is because our society is so bombarded by toxins in the form of mental/emotional stressors, environmental chemicals in our air, water and food. We are depleting our glutathione stores.
When we reach a critical mass where suddenly our glutathione levels are unable to cope with oxidative stress from the environment, our health rapidly deteriorates! This is when we suddenly have a significant burst of antibody formation and the maturation of autoimmune disease develops, we develop chronic pain or we have absolutely no energy anymore and/or tumors grow rapidly (whether we know we have cancer or not).

When taking GLUTATHIONE supplements, it is best to avoid the following:

Alcohol: Alcohol can interfere with the absorption of GLUTATHIONE and reduce its effectiveness.
Caffeine: Caffeine reduces the levels of GLUTATHIONE in the body. It is best to avoid or limit consumption of caffeinated beverages.
Certain medications: Certain medications, such as acetaminophen and aspirin, can decrease GLUTATHIONE levels. If you are taking any medicines, check with your doctor before taking GLUTATHIONE.
Processed foods: These foods contain high levels of harmful additives and chemicals that may reduce the effectiveness of GLUTATHIONE.
Smoking: Smoking reduces the levels of GLUTATHIONE in the body, so it is best to avoid smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke.

21st century health is all about strengthening our body's antioxidant defense systems to protect the body from the onslaught of toxins and oxidative stress.

For optimal absorption and use of GLUTATHIONE in the cell you should use GLUTATHIONE with the route of administration - intra-oral route (through the inner cheek). The intra-oral spray is an effective method of delivering an active ingredient directly into the bloodstream, rather than relying on primary processing from the digestive system where much of our tablets and capsules are simply not absorbed. It produces a spray of perfectly balanced tiny droplets (through special micro-emulsification technology) delivered into the mouth. Absorption begins immediately and is scientifically proven to deliver nutrients at least 50% faster than traditional tablets or capsules. It is directly absorbed into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system.
A more effective and convenient alternative to tablets and capsules.

To get an extra amount of GLUTATHIONE and boost its levels in your body, you can use GLUTAMORE, (L-GLUTATHIONE, L-Valine (BCAA, Arginine, Taurine, Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)) , One More Dekamin, contains (Vitamin D3, Vitamin K2, Magnesium and Vitamin C), One More Omevia, contains (Omega-3 Fatty Acids, Coenzyme Q10, DHA and Pregnenolone) which our body needs to be healthy.
